Summer and Sulley

Well Summer has arrived, and with it hopefully work for the wonderful Hubby. In the mean time I am innundated with stray kittens (and a mommy) at work. I recently became the "other" adoption coordinator and at the same time was scheduled for the shift that treats surgery patients, and takes care of the strays. Good for keeping up on what we have, but exhausting. But I did get four kittens out of the hospital, adoption applications for another three, and I am fostering (to adopt) another kitten. His hospital name is "Scrapper" because when he came into the hospital on June 6th, he was just a fur covered skeleton with a temperature of 94F. He was starving and dehydrated and I wanted him to be a scrapper and survive. His home name is "Sullivan (Sulley) Boo." He is almost 1 1/2 lbs now and is doing great. When he is home he is isolated from the other cats because his feline leukemia/fiv test was done too early to be completely accurate, and he has a touch of diarrhea. He is being treated for coccidia and he has to eat four or five times a day. And he will only eat fresh food, and no dry kibble. He's teething and he is a hyperactive monster, but we love him.

Ambrose has settled in quite nicely. Luna Moth still attacks him, and in fact she is now on Prozac to try and reduce her anxiety levels. Since she does have hypertrophic cardiomyopathy we don't want her dropping dead of a stress induced heart attack. And to be honest I want the kitty I love so much back. She was always attitudinal, but in the last few years she's gotten so angry and anxious all the time that she is miserable, and we are miserable. Hopefully the Prozac will give us all relief. Penelope also attacks Ambrose, but not nearly as badly as Luna Moth. Unfortunately Penelope has also taken to attacking Anya and Anya has twice peed on her daddy. So Anya gets to go to work with us on Monday or Tuesday to have a urine sample taken to make sure she doesn't have a bladder or urinary tract infection.

Today we have to go to Hunterdon Medical Center because my grandmother is in the hospital. I'm going to bring pictures of the kitties because she loves cats and hopefully that will cheer her up. Her kidneys are not functioning really well right now and there is the possibility she will not get over this, so in the not too distant future, we may have a ninth cat. Her Olivia Camille. While the darling Hubby truly loves that cat, I hope my Mom-Mom pulls through and we don't get the cat.

Ambrose grooming, in bed.

Sulley's first night staying with us, playing with a jingly mouse.

Same night, attacking a kitten stuffy.

This morning, playing with a PetStages fishie. He's a toy killer! :)
